Summer Reading

PSJA Reads- Summer Reading Program
Each summer, we invite students in grades PK4 through 12 for the incoming school year to join the PSJA
ISD Summer Reading Program. Our goal is to help them love reading and succeed in school.

Here's how it works:

1. Read Books
2. Log Books on the Summer Reading Log
3. Get Rewards:

Students can earn recognition and rewards when they return to school by turning in their reading
log to their school librarian by 8/30/24. One winner per grade level (PK4-12th) at each school will
be recognized at our district celebration.

Note for Parents / Caregivers:

Thank you for making reading and writing an important part of your child’s routine. Research shows that having language materials such as these at home reinforces the importance of daily reading, writing, and talking amongst everyone!

A reading log and activities are included for you and your child to respond to a variety of books. Each page is designed to highlight important writing and comprehension skills. Encourage your child to spend time after reading to talk through what they’ve learned and use the activities as a place to react creatively through writing.

Gracias por hacer de la lectura y la escritura una parte importante de la rutina de su hijo. ¡Las investigaciones muestran que tener materiales lingüísticos como estos en casa refuerza la importancia de leer, escribir y hablar diariamente entre todos!

Se incluyen un registro de lectura y actividades para que usted y su hijo respondan a una variedad de libros. Cada página está diseñada para resaltar importantes habilidades de escritura y comprensión. Anime a su hijo a pasar tiempo después de leer para hablar sobre lo que ha aprendido y a utilizar las actividades como un lugar para reaccionar creativamente a través de la escritura.

Go to Clever.com and click login. Find your school and then login with your credentials.

Hint: Use your student ID

Select the resource you want to use
Look for the icon with the resource you’d like to use. For our summer resource toolkit you can find
many resources inside the MackinVIA and BrainPOP apps.

Find resources in MackinVIA
Once you login to MackinVIA, you can navigate on the left side toolbar. You will find ebooks, audiobooks and instructional resources (databases.) To access resources like PebbleGo, National Geographic, etc. click on the instructional resources (databases) tab.

Our Summer Reading Program for secondary students offers an exciting opportunity to dive into diverse and engaging books, enhance your comprehension skills, and express your thoughts creatively. We have included a reading log to explore the books that interest you! We encourage you to track any reading you do all throughout the summer.  Reading logs are due with your campus librarian on 8/30/24.
