PSJA Education Foundation Awards Over $320,000 in Scholarships to Graduating PSJA ISD Seniors

PHARR – Continuing its commitment to student success and academic excellence, the PSJA Education Foundation awarded over $320,000 in Scholarships to more than 140 graduating seniors from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) this May to support their college education and career goals.

Established in 2013, the PSJA Education Foundation is a 501 © (3) non-profit organization that supports PSJA ISD students and educators through scholarships and teacher mini grants. Each year, the Foundation’s efforts are made possible thanks to the generous contributions from local businesses, community sponsors, and PSJA employee payroll deductions.

“We are proud to continue investing in the future of our students,” said Marlen Lopez, PSJA Education Foundation President. “Each scholarship reflects our belief in the incredible talent within PSJA ISD. It is an honor to support the dreams and aspirations of our students and help ease the financial burden as they pursue higher education.”

“I am incredibly thankful to the PSJA Education Foundation for awarding me this scholarship,” said Aidan Villarreal, a PSJA Early College High School Class of 2025 graduate. “These funds will go directly toward my undergraduate degree in history and will ease the financial burden as I prepare for law school. Every bit of support makes a difference, am I’m truly grateful that the Foundation believes in me and my future.”

In addition to student scholarships, the Foundation awarded $43,839 in Teacher Mini-Grants this past December to support innovative classroom projects across the district. A total of 49 educators received funding ranging from $500 to $1,000 for initiatives designed to enhance student learning. The Foundation also continued its support of literacy efforts with a $15,000 Literacy Grant to the PSJA Library Services Department, benefiting district-wide literacy programs.

The Foundation’s largest fundraiser, the 13th Annual Gala featuring Marshall Charloff & The Purple Xperience, will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Bert Ogden Arena. Sponsorships for this event are still available. For more information, visit: www.psjaedfounation.org/2025gala
